Web Page Navigation

Web browsers are very good at making it easy to find your way around a web site. You move your cursor over a picture or some text. . .  the arrow changes to a hand. . . and you click to jump to that link. As simple and effective as this is, there are a few seldom used features which I find helpful and thought you might also.

When you are moving the cursor over a web page, and the arrow changes to a hand, you have found a "link", or a path to another web page.  If you're curious about where that link takes you, the browser will usually show you the address the link points to. Look in the bottom left of your browser and you see the address appear, as I've shown here...

Of course most browsers offer more than one way to navigate. Microsoft's Internet Explorer (or IE, for short) has buttons for the most common functions. The Refresh button can be an unexpected help. This function will force the browser to completely reload the page you are viewing, so if something doesn't look quite right - Refresh.

My personal favorite navigation
TIP.

When the is over a link, click your right mouse button to get the menu you see to the right. The "Open in New Window" option will cause a new browser to load with the page this link points to. This is a great feature at times, so you don't lose your place, meaning the location you started from. Also this is a good way to save a local copy of a graphic you might like on your computer.
